Mufaddal Gombera
Dr. Gombera is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy in Houston, Texas. He is an Assistant Professor at University of Texas (Medical Branch), a Board of Director for Fondren Orthopedic Group, the Director of Hip Preservation at Texas Orthopedic Hospital, and an Executive Council member for Saifee Burhani Medical Association of America. His motivation to stay healthy is to give 110% for his family, his patients, and most importantly for Aqa Moula’s (TUS) khidmat.
Husain Bharmal
Dr. Bharmal is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult and pediatric spine deformity. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army he was deployed overseas into active war zones. He was the First Muslim in the US Army to be allowed to keep a beard as a soldier. He has a keen interest and understanding of what it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle among active duty soldiers through his military service.
Mustafa Sakerwalla
Dr. Sakerwalla is a physical therapist with decades of experience specializing in injury recovery and injury prevention. He has a keen focus on posture, fitness, and longevity. His focus is to alleviate painful symptoms by using the latest and most cutting-edge therapies to return patients to their optimal condition, attaining overall health and functionality. He is motivated to stay healthy so he can continue to help mumineen utilize their full potential for khidmat.
Alefiyah al Qamari
Dr. Al Qamari trained in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center, and served as a chief resident 2009-2010. Currently a full time mother of three and an Assistant Professor at Rush University in Chicago. She is serving as an officer for Saifee Burhani Medical Association of America. She has over 15 years of experience as a doctor in internal medicine, and holds a certification in Obesity Medicine. She is motivated to stay healthy so she can continue to work, hike with her kids, and continue khidmat.
Aziz Poonawala
Dr. Poonawalla has a Ph.D. in Medical Physics and works as a Patent Agent in Los Angeles. He has over 15 years of experience in writing, doing research, and data analysis. He holds a Notary Public commission in the State of California and completed a Paralegal certificate with distinction from the ABA-approved program at UCLA in June 2016. He loves biking and hiking. His motivation to stay healthy is to feel good, be good, and look good.
Hamza Raja
Hamza Raja is a medical student who became Hafizul Quran in Mahad al Zahra in Houston. He is now pursuing orthopedic surgery and is completing his medical training at the University of Texas. He also manages and advises multiple e-commerce ventures. He served as the secretary for Toloba ul Kuliyat for over 5 years. He spends his free time playing sports and loves visiting national parks, camping, and hiking.
Muneera Hamid
Muneera is a highly experienced Certified Fitness Trainer and Pilates instructor with a passion for helping women live active and healthy lives. With 18 years of experience in the fitness industry, she has gained extensive knowledge and skills to help her clients achieve their fitness goals and make long-lasting lifestyle changes. Her effective approach to fitness combines strength, flexibility, and mindfulness to optimize physical and mental well-being.
Tasneem Poonawala
Dr. Poonawalla is a dermatologist with 17 years of experience. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas (Medical Branch) and completed her Dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin. She has many patients over 90 years old leading active lifestyles, and she notes they are all paying attention to their mental and physical health. Taking care of these patients has really inspired her to be consistent about her own personal mental and physical health.
Alefiyah Millwala
Alefiyah is a muntasebah of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah who is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston. She is seeking to apply the practical life lessons that Aljamea taught her towards a career in helping people through medicine, and what better place to start than at home? To her, mental health is the most important reason to stay healthy, because a sound mind can only be achieved with a sound body as well.
Sakina Raja
Sakina became Hafizul Quran while attending college and getting her Bachelors degree in Biology. She’s always had an interest in naturopathic medicine so she decided to become an acupuncturist and is currently studying acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. She’s loves playing volleyball, swimming and is a die hard American football fan, Go Dallas Cowboys!
Sakina Hebatullah
Sakina is a muntesabah of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah who is currently a transition life coach, adolescents counselor and a diabetes care and education specialist. She studied in the United States and currently resides in Nairobi. She has the privilege of counseling Talabat and Talebaat in Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah. What motivates her to stay healthy is her passion to give back to others. Without self care and wellness of both your body and mind, you can not offer to others what you do not have. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, but actually a selfless act which will set you up for success in all aspects of your life.
Sakina Chiba
Sakina is a pharmacist in Houston specializing in Medication Therapy Management consultant where she started her own business. She is a women's health advocate and women's entrepreneurship project advisor. She has a passion for chronic care medication management in high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol patients. She is motivated to stay healthy to be able to do khidmat with full strength and energy until her last breath.
Insiyah Gombera
Insiyah is a muntasebah of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah who completed a degree in business and became a pharmacy technologist. She is currently a full-time mother and entrepreneur who recently launched a curated book subscription platform. She is motivated to stay healthy to be a role model for her daughters, to be able to enjoy life with her family, and to be ever ready in the khidmat of Aqa Moula (TUS).
